Great Britain?s Ed McKeever got off to a flying start in his quest for Olympic gold in the men?s K1 200m class of the canoe sprint, setting a new record in his heat. The resounding victory saw McKeever allocated one of the best lanes in his semi-final, which he also comfortably won to progress to tomorrow?s final. ?It has been good. I have been on a good training camp, and I am looking forward to the final tomorrow,? he said. ?It has been really frustrating watching everyone else from Great Britain going out there and winning medals. Hopefully, I will have more to come.? Also at Eton Dorney this morning was Britain?s Richard Jeffries. Despite finishing last in the semi-final of the C1 1000m, he got his 200m canoe sprint campaign off to a solid start, qualifying third in his heat. But Jeffries?s medal dream came to an end as he finished sixth in his semi-final, but he will still compete in the B final. Jess Walker, also flying the flag for Team GB, progressed from her heat in fourth place in the women?s K1 200m event. In the doubles event, British duo Liam Heath and Jon Schofield finished second in their men?s kayak double heat, to safely progress to the semi-finals. PICTURES: Yesterday at London 2012
