Ford Dealers Given Sneak Peak at 2014 Fiesta and its New Technology
Ford Motor Co. rolled out a sneak peak at its 2014 Ford Fiesta ahead of its debut this month in Paris ? for 2,500 deal?ers at Ford?s ?Go Fur?ther? prod?uct event hosted by CEO Alan Mulally. The Fiesta recently has become the flag?ship for Ford?s global design and pro?duc?tion process, and has sold 15 mil?lion units since being launched in 1976. The new ver?sion fea?tures a refreshed exte?rior design, and a new Eco?Boost fuel effi?cient engine and new tech?nol?ogy inside.
It?s get?ting a trape?zoidal front grille, laser-cut head?lamps with day?time run?ning lamps fea?tur?ing LED tech?nol?ogy, and power-dome hood. As for new tech?nol?ogy fea?tures inside, its get?ting the new Active City Stop, a sys?tem designed to help dri?vers avoid low speed col?li?sion. It?s get?ting Ford?s SYNC in-car con?nec?tiv?ity sys?tem that enables dri?vers to make voice-activated phone calls and select music via Blue?tooth or USB. SYNC also offers Emer?gency Assis?tance, con?nec?tive occu?pants to local emer?gency ser?vice oper?a?tors right after an acci?dent. Euro?pean mod?els of the Fiesta will have the first-ever MyKey for this seg?ment, which will enable par?ents of teenage dri?vers to con?fig?ure max?i?mum speed and audio vol?ume lim?its. It also keeps safety sys?tems from being deac?ti?vated by younger drivers.
As Ford is find?ing out with sev?eral new mod?els, Eco?Boost is going over well with own?ers. The 2014 Ford Fiesta will be pow?ered by the 1.0L Eco?Boost engine. Ford is already offer?ing this engine in Europe, and it?s prov?ing to be a suc?cess for Ford Focus own?ers who appre?ci?ate its best-in-class fuel economy.
